Handbook for Catholic Moms Question: Who’s Your Favorite Mom Saint and Why?

May 26, 2010 by Nancy Piccione

One great feature of The Handbook for Catholic Moms is a section of favorite saints for moms, where moms and others give suggestions of a Catholic “communion of saints for moms.”  I would have to say two of my favorites are St. Anne, the grandmother of Jesus, and St. Gianna Beretta Molla.

Who are some of your favorite “saints for moms”?  Why?

I’m not a mother, but as that may be my vocation some day, I love St. Monica. She is such a beautiful example of surrendering so fully the life her child to God’s will but also persevering in prayer. She knew when her own strength and power were not enough but trusted that through her weakness He is strong and that He cares for all His children more than we could ever comprehend and in ways we could never know.
